Yes it is, but that is a whole different subject.
In all seriousness, I`m really not sure. I`ve read all the stories. Those who have had contact with him and spoke and sat with him, either say yes, or no. The official mahayana institute hasn`t made an official statement as their position yet. I suppose in a way does it really matter ? It really wouldn`t change my daily meditation / ritual routine. Of course I would be extremely happy if it was him though.
I agree. While it won't change my day to day activities it would be quite exciting to be able to have teachings from the living reincarnation of Buddha.
I also think that it doesn't really matter if this boy is Buddha, but it will be interesting to watch the story unfold.

But the Buddha cannot be reincarnated. He has reached Nirvana and will not come back. Luckily this boy does not claim to be the Buddha reincarnated.
Good Point. I had forgotten that. But could he be the Buddha that everyone always call the 'Future Buddha'?
Didn't the Buddha himself even speak of another Buddha to come after him?

Yes, there have been many Buddhas, so maybe it could be a Buddha, however the "Future Buddha is supposed to come when Buddhism is dead and forgotten and the Dharma is no longer taught. But I cannot see him being the Buddha Sidartha Guatama reincarnated.
I hope I am understanding you, let me rephrase and please tell me if this is correct.
He can not be Prince Sidartha reincarnated because he entered nirvana and so is gone.
He could be a living Buddha but not Maitreya Buddha because Buddhism is not forgotten. Yes?

Very good, I am learning then as well. I have only been practicing Buddhism for two and a half years. It is all still very new.
